Family faces

Can't believe how fast these kids grow up! Sierra is grade three already,
Solomon, he sure has come out of his shell this year, he is quite the little personality
Cassendra, the shirt says it all "princess is great, queen is better"
some of us are still kids at heart!Posted by Picasa

more of the same

Diversification, that is the key to success, maybe Bob is taking this a little to far, not sure how you herd beavers! this one seems to be living in the dugout across the road, not sure where he came from! This is one of the fields I actually baled, see how nice and neat they are, that's skill my friends!

and this is where the money goes! kind of like giant piggy banks all in rows

this is NOT where the bale is supposed to be. I was very lucky that this one didn't fall farther and hit the truck! I would have been working off a pretty serious debt.

this is how they are supposed to be stacked when I arrive....oops

Hauling Bales with Bob

Ocean and I decided after sleeping in on Monday morning that we would go out to the farm to "help" Bob haul bales in from the fields.(Ocean's real motivation was to see the new shop kittens and mine was to see...well, not kittens) But we had an awesome time, and actually were able to be of some assistance. Yes he could have done it all with out us but maybe we saved him a bit of time. Sarge is Bob's most faithful companion, he rides along no matter what the job is

Ocean and Bob drove the tractor and I pulled the bales behind the truck (some of these are ones I actually baled!)

thaksgiving dinner at John and Sara's

Bob had to help Ethan understand which team he should be cheering for...he'll tell you "you shouldn't be wearing this shirt around Bob, he doesn't like it!" While the other men were cooking up a storm, Bob was brewing some trouble with the little guys, they love having someone to wrestle with and he's quite willing to jump over furniture to get them! What were we ladies doing? Well we were visiting of course!

Jon and his most usaul past time...texting...he could win prizes for speed I'm sure. We were very glad to have him join us for supper and football (he's not as scary as he tries to look) but he can reach so very high for the ball...no fair!
Laura's mom, Charlotte was out for a visit and able to join us, she's very relaxed around all of us nuts.

Edgar, Amy and Garron's international student this year and last years student Ren who still comes to visit us (which we love!)

The chef, his assistants and his crutches! Mike and Jon and Megan did an awesome job,the food was delicious and well worth the wait!

thanksgiving football

We were missing our patriarch of the football field this year, not quite the same with out you dad!

team 1..Garron,amanda,jon K.,Edgar,Isreal and Logan (occasionaly Journey and ocean)
team 2..Jon J,Brad,Ren,Ocean,Sierra, ethan(Amanda switched sides and Bob joined near the end) Even out numbered, Garrons team dominated the field!

The Discontented Pony

I read a book as a kid with this title and feel it pretty much sums up my attitude right now. (I could also write a book entitled the "Guilty Guppy" cause when I feel ungrateful and/or discontented I also feel guilty about feeling that way)...cause God is so good and faithful and has never let me down. why can't I just trust him and his timing? So frustrating!! (now we have a series, #3 the "Frustrated Frog")

I want to be content where I am right now, but it is no longer where I want to be, only this time it is not up to me to make the changes...one of the benefits to being a single parent is that all desicions are up to you, no considering someone elses opinion or sense of timing...you feel something is the right thing to do and you do it...consequences are also only on you but that is a pretty fair trade off I think....so here I sit struggling with myself. Lord keep me focused on you and living in the present.

Praise you in this storm

Sometimes I think that maybe God knows what is going to come into our lives and helps us prepare a bit....

I was having trouble settling down to sleep last night and was choosing a book to read, nothing was interesting me at all. I finally settled on a book that was given to me a number of months ago called "In his steps" it is a story of a group of christians who decide to commit to one year of making every decision in their life only after first asking the question "what would Jesus do if he were me in this situation" I know that the "wwjd" has been done to death and is not really taken seriously because of the whole commercial overuse but.... I found the book interesting, inspiring and challanging (enough so that I didn't want to sleep after one or two chapters and consequently was still awake when the phone rang at 11:30)

It was one of those calls that parents don't want to recieve (no one offering me a large sum of money or professing undying love for me!)

My first thought as I prepared to leave the house and go to the scence of the crime was "what would Jesus do? then as I got in the car the radio came on and the song that was playing was my favourite by Casting Crowns, "Praise you in this storm"(see previous posts). It was like God was saying, i'm here in this too, don't forget. I had such a peace it was strange and amazing.

Now, I'm no perfect parent, I still spent some sleepless hours and had my share of disparing thoughts today but my Papa knows me, knows my kids and loves us all the same. Pretty amazing!

bike trip to Montana

Here is something I never thought I'd find myself doing.....not because I wouldn't want to, just never thought it would be possible. We started out in Three Hills on Friday at noon and met Linda and Kevin (Bob's sister and brother in law) in Kallispel Montana. I didn't get any photos of the beginning of our trip as I was trying to be good and sit still! But I can see why people love Montana, what a beautiful part of the world. The weather was perfect and a real gift from God (i'm not sure I would have enjoyed it as much if I was wet and cold...just trying to be honest). This is a trip Bob has been wanting to do for 30 years!!!! ( I hope he doesn't take that long to do all things! haha)

Going to the Sun Road

This is an amazing road to travel through Glacier National Park up to Logan's Pass. I'm not sure the driver gets to enjoy the view because you really have to keep your eyes on the road! but the views are amazing and there are lots of places to stop and take photos.
