Reward
The kids were so good about watching and being careful! They were rewarded with a quad ride which they all loved! solomon was nervous at first but warmed up to it after a while and journey said on the way home"I like Bob" I said "I like Bob too!" :)
Sierra climed up into the hayloft to get an arial view. the ones on the left are waiting their turn, the ones on the right are finished(and giving advice?)
Many hands make light work, Andrea was surgeon's assistant(and even did some castrating herself!) and Linda passed the branding irons in when needed. Kevin and Bradley(bob's brother in law and nephew) kept the cattle moving through the chute and Keith's wife Jill had the honour of holding the messy end of the calf.
Cassendra spent most of the time complaining but eventually got used to it (it was also her naptime so she did pretty well considering)
Ethan says he wants to be a cowboy when he grows up...he was a little nervous at this point!

Branding
I took Amy and Sara's kids out to Bob's farm Saturday morning to watch the branding/castrating and tagging process. At first the kids said it was too noisy but eventually they got brave enough to sit on the fence.
The gentleman on the right is Bob's neighbour and the surgeon? Believe it or not the calves complain more about the branding than they do about the castration!
Bob is very good about explaining what is going on and is very patient with the kids (and me) this apparatus saves the guys from having to wrestle the calf to the ground and saves their aging backs.

Brotherly Love?
Sarges Farm
Ocean Brad and I spent the weekend out at Bob's farm. Ocean was supposed to get more photos but she was busy playing with pups, riding the quad soaking in the hot tub!
The first photo is Ocean trying to round up one of the calves that escaped, we never got that one back in but we were successful with one other.
Sunday afternoon was spent pruning trees and removing the dead limbs. Mrs. Sargent who is 82 worked just as hard (if not harder) than the rest of us! Ocean calls her "Mrs. Bob"
