Ocean's first day of School

The school now has all three Keatley kids attending! nothing like when all James or Pawluks take over a place but we make an impression! Ocean's first day was great. The face she has on in the first photo is how she looks whenever she sees me in the hall. But her teacher assures me that in class she is great and doesn't even ask about me.

I am in the very next classroom and try to keep out of sight. Posted by Picasa

Jake

Jon's dog, my loyal companion. He loves to walk, I love to walk. He's quiet and a good listener. He keeps my feet warm in bed. Last night we watched the northern lights together on the balcony. Jake is a good friend!

His only fault is his week stomach which presents me with very smelly, yucky piles to clean up once in a while.

Giuseppe

These are some self portraits. Giuseppe was using the camera on the way home from Calaway. As you can see he is not as shy as Jon! For those of you who didn't get a chance to meet him, this is a fellow bin builder and friend of Jon and Sara's. He's a great teacher, fun to be around and great with the kids. Ocean and Sierra are fighting over who gets to marry him in 15 years. Doubt he'll still be available!

We are looking forward to hearing about his skate boarding adventures in Ecuador and wherever else he may travel. He has been adopted into my family as an honorary son.

for those that keep up with the Dorion rumours, maybe this is the boy I gave birth to in England?!! Doesn't really look like Rick but.....

for those out of the loop...just kidding!

Calaway Park

Amy, Journey,Solomon,Myself, Jon K. and Giuseppe all went to Calaway on Labour Day. It was gorgeous and sunny. Amy and I took turns on this ride(called the Storm)this car spins around in the air and upside down..no seat belts! But it is surprisingly gentle and relaxing (if you close your eyes. The highlight for Journey was the flavoured ice and even Solomon had a good time (until the end) Jon and Giuseppe got me up on the roller coaster and I loved it. Would have gone again but the line was soooo long. Sorry I didn't get pictures of them but they were off on their own most of the time. My Jon is elusive. Posted by Picasa

Fire and smoke

That's a lot of candles! They managed to get all 36 on there. Next year I'll need a bigger cake!

I love living near my two sisters. They have been my saving graces during these past 3 years. They are my sounding boards, champions, court jesters and voices of sanity when I need it most. Thank you Sara and Amy. I love you guys. Posted by Picasa

My 36th Birthday Party

When I got back from bin building we got around to celebrating James family style. Even in our oversized kitchen it gets a little crowded. This is one of the few pictures I have of my Jon.(we actually have 3 jons in this photo!) It was a great celebration Posted by Picasa

September news

I don't have any photos this time, I have to get together with Laura at her house to get that going but I just felt like writing about my month.

We are all back at school/work. Ocean has started Kindergarten and is enjoying it. She does cry when she sees me in the hall but that will stop soon I'm sure. She just loves her mommy.

Some of you are aware that I made an offer on a house in Three Hills this summer and the final papers should be signed on the 28th.(this Friday!!) I say "should" because I still don't believe it is real and am expecting something to go wrong at the last minute. I mean who ever heard of a single mom who makes 11 dollars an hour being able to buy a house? If it does go through I am not planning on moving but will rent it to Amy and Garron for a while. I'd like to stay in Calgary until the boys are done high school (I promised them no more new schools when we moved here.) Brad graduates in only 6 years so I know that will go by quickly.

I decided to become more involved in the church as well this year. I will be teaching grade 3/4 sunday school and am the Pioneer Club Leader for the grade 1/2 class. I will also be co-leading the Celebrate Recovery group with Sara. My small group will be focusing on co'dependancy and love/relationship addiction. This group has been so good for me this past year and has allowed me the time, safety and direction to work on some issues. Recovery is ongoing but it is going!

Personally, I am enjoying being around my family (immediate and extended) I am not dating or even close to that but I am happy and content. The kids seem to have settled into a comfortable pattern of being with me during the week and with Derek on the weekends. They have also adjusted really well to his girlfriend (it helps that she enjoys playstation) Although it is hard to share your kids with another woman, that is where my life is and I think I'm handling it in a way that will not cause any more damage to them and allows them the freedom to be who they are and enjoy life.

Well I think that's about it for me. Talk to you all in October!
